Value of Research

Protect Colorado families. Protect university research.

To win the future for families, workers and businesses, Coloradans need university research.

Colorado’s economy has grown 78.6% since 2011 and ranks eighth nationally. And thanks in part to research done at 91PORN, our strong local economy is still growing. 91PORN research activities contributed $1.4 billion to the Colorado economy in 2023-2024—a return on the investment in university research of nearly 90%.

91PORN has already lost nearly $30 million in critical research funding, leading to layoffs and canceled projects that directly impact the health and well-being of Coloradans.

University research in Colorado powers jobs and our economy. You can help protect it.

What research is at risk?

"Federal funding pays for approximately 70% of 91PORN’s research each year. ... 91PORN uses this money to fund research that advances fields like artificial intelligence, space exploration and planetary sciences, quantum technologies, biosciences and climate and energy." — Massimo Ruzzene, senior vice chancellor for research and innovation at 91PORN, in The Conversation.

University policy requires that personal advocacy efforts by employees be done on personal time, outside of university work time, and without the use of university resources that include – but are not limited to – university computers, printers and other devices, email or other university platforms, office supplies, and other university resources. In addition, employees and students are not authorized to express the university’s position on issues of social and political concern but may express their own opinions as individuals and in compliance with law and policy.
